EMA Technology has been conducting OpenVMS training courses throughout the world since 1996.
In that time we have trained thousands of system professionals to use and get more out of OpenVMS.

Our OpenVMS training courses range from Basic Operations to Advanced System Management. We often tailor our courses to suit individual requirements.
Our OpenVMS training courses are mostly conducted on our customer's premises, although we can accommodate off-site courses as well.
All of our OpenVMS training courses contain practical sessions where delegates can use their new skills.
Comprehensive course documentation is provided.
If you do not have an OpenVMS server available for the course we can provide one at no extra charge.

OpenVMS Training - Operations Itinerary
Who
Should Attend:
Anyone
who has experience of other operating systems, but little or no exposure
to OpenVMS.
This
is the ideal course for OpenVMS beginners.
Course
Overview:
The
OpenVMS Operations training course teaches how to login to an OpenVMS system and
navigate around the directory structure. Delegates are also introduced to
DCL (OpenVMS command line interface) and learn how to interpret DCL command
procedures. File operations (copying, deleting etc) are explained along with
critical system components and facilities, such as user, I/O, and
error management.
Completion
of this course will give the delegate a good appreciation of what constitutes an
OpenVMS system and the confidence to log in and use the system.
Clustered
and non-clustered OpenVMS systems are covered. VAX, Alpha and Integrity
architectures and the differences between them are explained.
All
current versions of OpenVMS are included.
OpenVMS Training - Basic System Management Itinerary
Three
Day Course
Who
Should Attend:
Anyone
who is new to OpenVMS system management. Some exposure to OpenVMS is desirable
but is not a requirement. The course is suitable for delegates who are moving up
from an operations role on OpenVMS, or from another platform.
Course
Overview:
The
OpenVMS System Management Basic training course will provide delegates with the
essential skills to manage an OpenVMS system. Topics range from system startup
through user management and DCL scripting to system shutdown. All
essential system management facilities are covered.
Completion
of this course will enable the delegate to effectively administer an
OpenVMS system using the basic features of the operating system.
Clustered
and non-clustered systems are covered. VAX, Alpha and Integrity architectures
and the differences between them are explained.
All
current versions of OpenVMS are included.
OpenVMS Training - Advanced System Management Itinerary
Three
Day Course
Who
Should Attend:
Anyone
who has some OpenVMS system management or operations experience and needs to
know the operating system in more depth.
Course
Overview:
The
OpenVMS System Management Advanced training course covers the more advanced
aspects of OpenVMS system management. Topics include DCL programming,
crash dump analysis, performance and capacity management. Also
covered are advanced troubleshooting techniques and procedures for dealing with
abnormal hardware and software events.
Completion
of this course will enable the delegate to effectively manage and OpenVMS system
using the more advanced and complex features of OpenVMS.
Clustered
and non-clustered systems are covered. VAX, Alpha and Integrity architectures
and the differences between them are explained.
All

OpenVMS Training - Security Management Itinerary
One
Day Course
Who
Should Attend:
Anyone
who has OpenVMS system management experience and needs to know more about
managing security on this platform.
Course
Overview:
The
OpenVMS Security Management course covers all aspects of securing your OpenVMS
systems. This course explains all of the available facilities for securing
subjects and objects on OpenVMS along with methods for detecting and monitoring
security events. OpenVMS is one of the most secure operating systems around but
specialist knowledge is needed to take advantage of this.
Completion
of this course will enable the delegate to confidently manage and monitor the
security elements of OpenVMS making security breaches less likely.
Clustered
and non-clustered VAX, Alpha and Integrity architectures and the differences
between them are explained.
All
